Little Kody learning how to hunt from “Uncle” Moksgm’ol
My family has been involved with breeding, competing, and hunting with their Golden Retrievers since the 1960’s. Marscher Goldens began in Ottawa, Illinois. See our Origin page here:https://marschergoldens.com/about/ My parents were key members in many different obedience and field trial clubs in Illinois. Both were field trial judges. Our Misty, who is behind many of the field and show lines today (and each of our current four dogs in the present year, 2026), is a member of the Golden Retriever DDHF, and our Mike, who is behind both Kody and Nalu, is an AFC and a member of the FDHF- and was just shy ONE first place to be an FC (had a string of seconds in his final year competing). We moved to Florida because of work in the 1980’s and stopped actively breeding shortly thereafter. My parents continued to hunt with their Goldens, and their dogs were sought after by guides to help on hunts and tower shoots. I was involved with Therapy dog work with my beautiful Tory, of Marcia Schlehr’s breeding. When I came back from an assignment to Korea with the military in 2000, there was a little surprise named Colonel, also from Marcia, waiting with my parents with Tory. The rest is history. See more about our historical Goldens here: https://marschergoldens.com/our-historical-goldens/
I have taken over Marscher Goldens, and someday I will begin breeding again to continue the family tradition. I currently live in Vero Beach, Florida. We currently have four Golden Retrievers (Kody, Orion, Nalu, and Tahani) who have competed in all three venues: performance, field, and conformation. Kody is an English-Style AKC Grand Champion with Field and Performance titles, and he is currently at Stud. Please see his Kody page ( https://marschergoldens.com/kody/ ) and Kody’s Stud page (https://marschergoldens.com/stud-dog-kody/ ) for more details about his career.
I am a member of the Golden Retriever Club of America, the Mid Florida Golden Retriever Club and Everglades Golden Retriever Club, and I am an associate member of the Tarheel Golden Retriever Club. I am also a member of the Central Florida Hunting Retriever Club, the Treasure Coast Retriever Club, and I am an Officer of the Treasure Coast Gun Dog Club.
